The World Publishing Corporation (WPC), founded in 1986, is a publishing conglomerate with four branches in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Xi'an and a subsidiary company known as WPC Audio-Video & Electronics Publishing House. It specializes in publishing and distributing reprint and translation editions of overseas books and periodicals in China through signing right license contracts with publishers abroad. Through rights trade, it has been authorized to reprint, translate and annotate over 4,000 titles by publishers abroad. Meanwhile, it cooperates with overseas publishers in publishing books and periodicals as well as necessary cassettes and CD-ROMs in all disciplines. It also publishes books written by Chinese authors on science, technology, economics and management science, language learning as well as dictionaries, reference books and various books ranging over broad subjects.
